Mary Nester

Learning Support Teacher

After graduating from the Special Education Program at the University of Delaware in 1979, Mary Nester began her teaching career at St. Helena School in Bellefonte, Delaware, where she taught 5th and 6th grades, wrote and directed drama productions, lead the children’s choir, and coached athletic clubs.  In 1984, she entered the M.A.R. Biblical program at Westminster Theological Seminary.  Following seminary, she resumed her teaching career, continuing to direct plays and coach interscholastic field hockey and basketball.  After discovering NILD Educational Therapy at a MACSA Teacher Convention in 1996 and because of her heart for struggling students, Mary immediately pursued training and certification as an NILD therapist.  Although serving special needs students became Mary’s primary focus, she continued to enjoy teaching as many middle school math and science classes as her schedule would allow.  Mary joined the Discovery Program at Tall Oaks Classical School in 2013 and transitioned to the Red Lion Learning Support Program in 2016.
