After teaching and directing a church-run preschool and then running an in-home preschool day care program, Mrs. Zinkand began an over twenty-year career in teaching and administration at Tall Oaks Classical School. She taught first and second grade for several years and served nearly ten years as a principal at Tall Oaks. Mrs. Zinkand helped start the educational therapy program at Tall Oaks, where she now serves as the Director of Academic Resources and Guidance. In 2016, she also became the principal of Journey Christian Academy.

Mrs. Zinkand and her husband, Bill, are active members of Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Newark. Their son and his wife, both Tall Oaks graduates, have one son. Mrs. Zinkand enjoys reading, cooking, making music, drinking well-brewed tea, and watching Jane Austen movies. She is known for cooking for large crowds at her church and at her home.
