Starting to home school one or more children can be overwhelming when you first begin.  Below are some FAQs that might help.

Q. How do I let the state know I want to homeschool?

A. If you are home schooling in Delaware you will need to register each student you are home schooling on the Department of Education's website at http://www.doe.k12.de.us/domain/191

If you are planning to home school in Maryland you can visit the following website with a FAQ page: http://archives.marylandpublicschools.org/MSDE/nonpublicschools/npdocs/fact_sheets/np_fact_home_instruction.htm You will also need to contact your local county.

Q. What is the HSLDA?

A. Home School Legal Defense Association is a nonprofit advocacy organization established to defend and advance the constitutional right of parents to direct the education of their children and to protect family freedoms. Through annual memberships, HSLDA is tens of thousands of families united in service together, providing a strong voice when and where needed.  You can get more information or become a member at www.hslda.org.

Q. What is the Tri-State Homeschool Inc.?

A. Tri-State Homeschool, Inc. is a local organization that was formed to promote homeschooling and to provide support to the families that home school. Tri-State has a Yahoo! group that allows home school families in the tri-state area to get and stay connected.  You can find more information and a membership form at www.tristatehomeschoolinc.org.

Q. Where can I look for and purchase curriculum?

A. There are many helpful websites that sell homeschooling curriculum. Here are some we recommend: www.christianbook.com, www.rainbowresource.com, www.apologia.com, www.sonlight.com, www.abeka.com.
